I am working with members of the lab on projects where electron microscopy may help visualize ultrastructural details of the worm. On the side, I am assisting Na and I am filling in for her when she is away.
I study the neural circuits of the pharynx, a neuromuscular pump that the worm uses to feed. These studies have revealed a previously unknown C. elegans behavior that occurs in response to noxious chemicals: spitting, presumably to remove the offending taste.
